Life has been very busy. I can't believe I haven't updated since August. Josiah is almost a year now. He hasn't quite mastered walking yet. But I am sure that it is only a matter of time before we will be chasing a toddler around the house. For now, he is quite content holding our fingers as we go for walks around the house. I fear for Percy. As soon as Josiah starts walking, she is going to be one terrorized cat. As it is, he chases her around the house. I am not completely convinced that she hates it, because she never goes very far and often comes back for more.
We bought our first house in September and are making plans on how to make it feel like our home. I cannot wait until spring to get started on our yard. I am ordering roses through one of our high schools and am super excited about finding a place to plant them. And I really want to plant a vegetable garden. But mostly I am excited to make all of the weeds go away. I am sure our neighbors, who are selling their house, will also be very excited to see the weeds leave.
In other news, we have finally found a new church home. We are going to Community of Hope Methodist Church. We really like it and have just become members. Jermaine sang for the first time last Sunday, and he is already being asked when he will sing again. I have recently joined a women's Bible study and am looking forward to meeting the women of the church.

4 months old already
I am sure I have begun every post by saying that I cannot believe how big my little boy is getting. But I cannot believe how big he is getting. The other day Jermaine and I looked at pictures of when we first brought him home. He was so tiny. And now he is 14 pounds 12 ounces and 25 inches long. Of course when we took Josiah in for his 4 month check up, Jermaine came out and announced that our son was 65 inches long. I was pretty impressed that my four month old was over 5 feet tall. 65 centimeters...65 inches...no big difference between the two.
Josiah is getting more and more active everyday. He really started rolling over at the beginning of the month. Before that he would occasionally roll from his belly to his back and even more rarely from his back to his belly. But something about his visit to Kansas changed all of that. Maybe it was being confined in his car seat for 6 hours, but whatever it was as soon as we arrived in Wichita, he started rolling everywhere. We could not keep him on his mat.
July began with a trip to Wichita to visit Aunt Loni and Great Grammy and then we continued to Nebraska to see all of my family. Josiah just watched and absorbed as much love and attention as he could from all of his aunts, uncles and cousins and of course from Grandma and Papa Bob. On our return trip from Nebraska, Josiah got to meet his Great Aunt Sissy and his second cousins, as well as lots of Jermaine's friends from high school and college and even the Disney Store. Josiah's first trip to Nebraska came with a trip to the Henry Doorly Zoo, my favorite zoo, and Godfather's Pizza, my favorite pizza. He also got to see fireworks for the first time.
Josiah is learning so much these days. He has taught himself how to squeal/scream. He discovered he could while laughing at all of the silly things Jermaine and I do and now does it on a regular basis. He has also learned that if he bonks his head, Mommy will laugh. The other day, Jermaine was holding our squirmy little man, when he accidentally bonked his head on Jermaine's computer. The look on his face was priceless and it made me laugh. So he tried doing it again. And then in his crib
Josiah has also learned to give kisses. Josiah kisses are the best kisses in the world. They are a bit slobbery, but still very sweet. When Jermaine are sitting next to one another, Josiah will take turns giving us kisses it is the best family time there is. Of course, Jermaine gets a little bit jealous when I get more kisses. Or when Josiah acts like he is going to give Jermaine a kiss and quickly turns his head to give me a kiss instead.
There is so much more, but I think I should go ahead and publish this post. As it is, it has taken me 5 days to write. I will try to do better.

Busy, busy, busy
Wednesday we celebrated Josiah's third month with a chocolate cake. I cannot believe it has already been three months.
The biggest milestone Josiah has reached this month, is blowing raspberries. He loves it and I taught him how. Which just makes me super excited. One day, after feeding him I was blowing raspberries at him and he was just watching what I was doing. Trying to figure out how to do it himself. And then he tried. It was super cute to watch his bottom lip vibrate as the spit came flying out. And now in the mornings as I change his diaper, he greets me with a PFFFFBBBBTTTT. My heart just smiles.
He is also talking all of the time. Sometimes he will go for 20 or 30 minutes just cooing and talking to whoever or whatever will listen, including the ceiling fan. The other morning he woke up at 5:30 and I asked him if he could just sleep a little longer so Mommy could sleep and very clearly, at least clearly for two very sleepy parents, he said "No!" So Daddy got up with him.
Josiah is getting quite fond of playing on the floor on his mat. Daddy has discovered that when he is fussy the best thing to do is to put him on his mat. And all of a sudden, the world is a much happier place. Josiah just giggles and coos as he looks at all of the different toys hanging above him. He is also getting lots of tummy time on his mat. He is getting much better about lifting his head up. And on several occasions he will roll over when we put him on his belly. But not too often. Mainly because he has discovered that his hand will stay still when he is laying on it and he can keep it in his mouth much easier. It won't be too much longer before he is rolling all over the place. He can get onto his side from his back, but hasn't gotten all of the way over yet.
This next month is going to be a busy one for us. Grammy is coming to visit us today. The last weekend in June, he is going with me to Austin for Girls' Weekend, where he can play with 2 month old Graysen. And then a few days after that we are headed to Wichita and Omaha to visit Great Grammy and all of my family in Nebraska. We will be celebrating the 4th in Omaha.
In other news, Jermaine and I are busy looking for our first home. So please keep us in your prayers as we begin looking for real this weekend. Hopefully by the end of August or beginning of September we will be in our very first home.

Two months already
I am not even sure where to begin. Life has been crazy since the last time I updated my blog. I went back to work three weeks ago. Josiah is staying at a church very near my school, which is very convenient because I can go see him during my lunch break. He had absolutely no problems adjusting. I on the other hand cried the first few days and have very bad days when I don't get to go see him at lunch. And I probably won't get a chance to go see him much these last two weeks of school because of the amount of paperwork I need to get done at work.
Last weekend, we took Josiah on his first rode trip. Uncle Ben graduated from OU and we drove to Norman to celebrate. For the most part he did an excellent job during the drive. It was after the drive that he got angry. After being in the car all day he was not a happy camper. But he did get to see lots of family. And he talked and smiled a lot for his Grammy and Great Grammy.
I cannot believe that our little man is already two months old. I was pretty proud of how well he handled his first set of booster shots. He only cried for a few minutes, just long enough for me to walk to the car and start driving and then he was out. Jermaine came with me, which was a wonderful blessing. Because as always it is harder for me than it is for Josiah. He weighs 11lbs 14 oz and was 23.3 inches long. The doc says he is just a little above average. Judging from the kids in his daycare class, he is way under average. He is by far the least round baby in that room. He is also the youngest by 4 days. The doctor gave us exercises to do with him, because he favors his left side a lot and is always looking in that direction. As a result the back of his head on the left hand side is getting a little flat. So now we exercise his neck a couple of times a day and try to put the things he is looking at on his right.
The most exciting thing about this week for me is that Jermaine and I were able to make Josiah laugh. I have heard him laugh in his sleep several times. And now we have heard him laugh while he was awake. He is still kind of shy about laughing for us. I cannot wait until he is laughing all of the time. I am pretty sure he is tired of me tickling him in my attempts to hear his laugh. The attached video is only of him talking to us. Hopefully, we will capture his laugh on video soon.
Tonight he gets to go to his first choir banquet. He just fell asleep, so if he takes a good nap, he should be happy for all of the high schoolers.

Getting Big
I can't believe how big our little man is getting. We took him for his 1 month check-up last week. He now weighs 10lbs 4.9oz and is 22 inches long. He is quickly running out of room on Mommy's short torso. Good thing he still likes to curl up in a ball. Our visit to the doctor was pretty uneventful. He got his second Hepatitis B vaccine. He did a wonderful job and didn't cry too much. Next time the doc says bring the baby Tylenol because his next set of shots will hurt. I have no idea what or how many shots he will get then.
Josiah talks to us more and more everyday. It is so fun to watch him work very hard to make sound come out. And his smiles are plentiful as well. We just can't seem to get the camera to work fast enough to capture most of them. He hasn't figured out his hands yet. The other day they were flailing around as always and one hit him on the top of the head. And he actually looked up to see who hit him. I laughed so hard.
I am quickly learning Josiah's cues for "I'm tired" or "I need some alone time." He loves all of the attention he gets from Mommy and Daddy. But he is very much like me and needs his down time or he gets very cranky. If we watch for his cues and put him in is bed or get him to a quiet place we can avoid a very large meltdown. At five weeks, he will go to sleep on his own without having to be rocked. Which is wonderful. All we have to do is swaddle him and put him in bed with his mobile on and within a few minutes he is out. Of course, if he gets too excited talking to the animals on his mobile or the baby in the mirror it takes him a while to go to sleep.
Josiah is very excited because he gets to meet his Aunt Loni this weekend.

Smiles and Coos
Josiah is full of smiles, especially just after waking up. It melts my heart every time I get a real smile. Jermaine and I have worked very hard to catch a smile on camera but it is yet to happen. So keep checking and maybe someday I'll be able to post a picture of him smiling.
He has also begun to talk to us. Actually, he does a lot of talking to the bears in his mobile. But it is still very fun to listen to. When we talk to him, his precious, little mouth is working very hard to talk back. Occasionally, he will hum along as I sing to him. One can only hope he gets his Daddy's voice and not mine. I have no doubt he is the only one who likes to hear me sing Jesus Loves Me over and over and over again.
It is hard to believe that he is only days away from being a month old. It does not seem that long ago that I was lying on the guest bed timing contractions. Trying to figure out whether or not they were the real thing and when I should wake Jermaine up.
Josiah's one month check up is not until next week. But we took him in to see his Pediatrician last week because of a rash he had developed on his head and neck. Turns out is overly concerned mother had over heated him under all of the layers and he developed a heat rash. It is starting to go away, but his baby smooth skin is rather bumpy at the moment. The neighbor girl said he had polkadots on his face. She is only 4. He now weighs 9lbs 6 oz. I am very curious to find out how long he is. I am baffled by the fact that I might end up with a tall son. Of course, I am still not sure how he got red hair. I don't know anyone with red hair on my side of the family and I have lots of family.
Sleeping is a rare thing in our house right now. I take that back. Jermaine sleeps through the night, Josiah sleeps in small spurts and I just beg him to go back to sleep when he does wake up, so "Mommy can get some sleep." He is still eating very frequently. Usually every 2 hours like clockwork. Occasionally, he will go 3 to 4 hours between feedings at night. But only if he is wrapped in swaddling pajamas. And then he more than makes up for sleeping that much at night by wanting to be fed hourly in the morning. I hope he starts to go longer between feedings before I have to head back to work.
